Some adults use the robotic children as substitutes for their actual children that they have lost, which is touched upon in the very first chapter of the book.įrom the get-go, the story reminded me of the tv series, Humans, which explores similar themes. However, an accident reveals that he isn’t quite as ‘proper’ as he originally thought, which leads to him and his friends going on a journey and discovering what it really means to be human. He is the only ‘proper’ child, meaning he is the only human boy. Tin is about a young boy, Christopher, who lives with a group of mechanical children in a scrapyard, with Mr. Mum read this book as part of her book club I read it because I thought it looked cool. Just before the end of the year, I ended up pinching one of my mum’s books, Tin by Padraig Kenny.
